Amsterdam observations

One of the key things I've noticed in Amsterdam is the overwhelming amount of bikes everywhere. There are more bikes than cars, and sometimes I wonder if there are more bikes than people! (not true, but funny to think) the bikes definitely rule the streets. It seems like padestrians and cars alike move out if the way for them. Another thing is that they don't seem to care quite as much about how clean the streets are compared to the last couple of cities we've been to. Not saying there's trash everywhere, but the cigarette butts are everywhere. I know we discussed this before a bit, but it seems like everyone smokes.

I noticed the trash as well. It doesn’t seem as clean as the other cities. The smoke is also very strong. It is especially more annoying to have to breathe because it’s often from marajuana which we have never been exposed to.

I feel that the higher density of people in the city paired with being a more tourist focused area, the trash and smoke is just a symptom of this.

In a place so densely populated it would seem difficult to keep the streets clean especially in a city with such prominent night life its hard to get everyone off the streets to get any cleaning done.
